I'm curious as to what dictates leg color in chickens. I have a bantam BTW japanese hen (yellow legs) who hatched out four chicks. One had black/slate legs, three had white legs. At the time she was bred, there was only black bantam OEG roosters (black/slate legs) and one bantam BTW japanese male (yellow legs). I doubt the jap male bred her because he's lowest on the pecking order, plus the chicks are mostly black and not BTW. Where did the white come from?

A dark legged male bred to a light legged female will produce female chicks with dark legs and males with light legs. So if the OEG is the papa for them all it looks like you may have 3 boys and 1 girl.
