Is a dark leg color dominate? I have a couple of new chicks that I think are pure mille fluer d'uccles but there is a chance that they have a different papa. Their leg color is yellow (feathered) right now and the other potential dad has slate legs (golden lakenvelder).

Thanks-
Stephanie

If you breed a dark legged male to a light legged female the female offspring will have dark legs, the males will have light. You have sexlinks!

Hmm that will be cool on the ones that hatch that are his babies. I found a chicken color genetic calculator and if the Golden Lakenvelder was the dad they would have been mostly black (down) at hatch. These guys are the right color for d'uccles. I had a quitter that was mostly black though. I will keep that in mind for other chicks - it's good to know since I am sure he has fathered some of the eggs.
