Leg/foot dragging video

So the issue might be a motor nerve being compressed in the pelvis
I wonder if there’s any off chance she could be eggbound even though she’s 9 and it’s winter .
I’ll give her some cal gluconate in the morning it can’t hurt right?

I read somewhere quite recently that female ducks can get temporary nerve compression from something to do with their reproductive tracts. It wasn't being egg bound. I didn't take full notice as mine are all drakes! I'll see if I can find it.

OK I read it on BYC!! Obturator paralysis

Very interesting. It says temporarily like a few hours though. So that can’t be what Teeny has, but it’s sure good to know about that.

If you pinch her foot, does she flinch? Try pinching the good one first, that will give you an idea of how hard to do it. If she doesn't flinch, that would suggest she has no feeling in the foot.

You also should carefully palpate the good leg and get an idea of what it should feel like. Then palpate the bad leg, checking for abnormalities.
So i have this ducklings that survived a dog attack a couple days ago. She doesnt flinch with either foot. I was wondering if it might just be out of place or if she could even recover feom that.

I’m sorry that’s really sad - so you’re saying both her legs don’t work at all? When you put her in a tub of water, does she move them and swim at all?

No, she doesnt. We were trying to decide if it was a dislocated joint what anti-inflammatory we could give or if she was ever going to get that back

If it’s dislocated it won’t heal unless it’s reset. You can give meloxicam ,
