Hi first time duck owner. Anyone ever see or have an issue like this? Happened within the past 2 days. Does not seem to cause any issues besides ugly apperance, finding it hard to believe it’s trauma but then again with them anything is possible! Treating with triple antibiotic for and and monitoring. Any advice or knowledge would be helpful thanks!

How old? I had a duckling this season that I hatched that was a problem child from day 1, and he had all his skin peel on both legs and feet. Others on here had mentioned it happens sometimes when they grow fast. That looks more like an injury to me, maybe a friction burn or a scrape. it appears there’s also a smaller section above the bend of the joint? I would think what you’re doing would be sufficient unless it worsens or starts showing up on other birds, or this one starts acting sick otherwise. :)

Hey thanks for the reply! She’s approx 4 months old. She did grow quick! Such a beefcake lol. Since day one she had some leg issues which is why I got her she was very weak couldn’t support her body weight long and always had these bruise like spots on her webs. All that luckily has resolved now. We just have this lol. There’s really nothing around for them to injure themselves with but I know they are michevious! Only thing I was thinking that’s a possibility was scraping the leg on the underside of the kiddie pool. That lip can be a bit rough. Just wanted to make sure it’s nothing more serious. And yes there is an additional smaller one higher up on the leg

Those darn loveable Pekins! Haha. Could be either then, definitely a possibility of scraping on the edge with those clumsy fat duck legs. Haha. Investigate further if it gets worse, otherwise yeah, probably will resolve on its own. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’ve also had some weird injuries this year with the drakes, probably just stupid boy brawling, but one had a big ol scrape/wound on his bill. Took a while to grow out but eventually did and you wouldn’t know it was even there now.
