leg mites--substitute for kerosene?

You mean "PAM" ?

I used Pam cooking oil spray for the one chicken I had that came to me with leg mites. I had intended to smear regular oil on her legs with my fingers, but she was too afraid of me to do that. So I got Pam spray, and when I would unlock the coop in the morning I would stand to the side until she came out, then spray her legs from the back as she walked down the ramp. It worked well.

I bought my Pam spray on a *really* good sale, that's why I got the name brand. But any brand or variety will work. The point is to smother the mites with something oil-based that sits on the legs for a while.

Thanks, I'll remember this.
