There is nothing that says you can't apply some oil, A+D ointment or vaseline to the legs of your chickens anytime you want, it won't hurt them one bit.I’m unaware of what the signs look like. I decided to ask on here because when I google it I can’t find a straight answer.I don't see a sign of them but my eyes have been failing.
Where do you see the signs?
Scaly Leg Mites are microscopic and cannot be seen by the naked eye, but they do leave evidence behind - raised, crusty scales. The mites live on the bird under the scales, over time the scales begin to raise due to mite population and their poop. What sometimes can look like dirt/debris under the scales is their poop.I’m unaware of what the signs look like. I decided to ask on here because when I google it I can’t find a straight answer.
