Several of my Buckeyes have developed scaley legs. They are larger in diameter than they should be and it looks like the scales of a fish. Leg mites? What are the other possibilities and what is the recommended treatment?

Could you post photos? Scaly leg mites are the most likely. To treat, rub Vaseline or oil of some sort on the legs. This will smother the mites. It will take a while for the scales to go back to normal (some never do), even after the mites themselves are gone. To help the scales go back to normal faster, though, soak the legs in warm water and use a toothbrush to scrub at the legs. This will help remove old scales, and make way for new ones.
