Leg not working

I went out to get the hens ready for bed and I notice one of them sitting alone in the middle of the yard. When she stood up I notice she is on one foot. When I picked her up, that leg is dangling. It's not blue or anything, but it's like the ligament is not attached or something. I felt, and feel a gap right above her knee on that side. What can I do?

The vet has her leg bandaged. He said it was broken up at the top. I guess that would be considered the thigh, up where the feathers grow. I do not want to remove the bandage. The vet said to keep it on for 4 weeks then bring her back. I have no idea how this happened. It just seems so bizarre. I have her in a cat carrier at the moment. I have to find something a little bigger for her.

Glad that you were able to get vet care. If you get a chance over the next few days, could you post a picture of the splint? We always enjoy seeing pictures of splints and bandages in case of other people needing help. Hopefully the leg will heal.
