Leg shackles???

My Pekins came with little brown right leg bracelets. They look like they'll expand and fall
off as the ducks grow, but I was wondering why, and should I remove them myself?

can't say for sure but it sounds like they are spiral bands. You need to take them off . they can cause your ducks harm..cut off circulation ,rub sores into legs,imbed themselves into legs...some hatcheries use them to mark what sex the duckling is

those are sex bands, the hatchery puts them on to the ducks so that males can be told apart from the females and vis versus. You need to take them off ASAP!!!!!!! they will constrict blood flow to the leg, and the foot will swell up causing allot of pain.

Thanks guys, I took them off today, two ducks had no problems, no swelling, one had a small abrasion, but seems fine.

Brown means girls, purple means boys. Take em off asap. I put a perm marker dot on the webbing on my boy to know who he was after the anklet was removed.
