I just walked into the garage, where I have chicks of different ages in a brooding pen. I see one of my white leghorns chicks (about 5 weeks old) laying on one side with her eyes closed. I figured she was asleep, and I touched her foot. She flopped around for a few seconds and then passed. I found blood in the bedding, but no blood on her or any of the other birds. Could she have broken her neck somehow, and the blood come from her mouth? There was a clear fluid on her beak.
