Today I got the first 2 eggs from my three LF Leghorns that I bought about Labor Day, last Fall. I know they were from the Leghorns because none of my other chickens lay white eggs.

These eggs are only about 1/3 the size of the brown eggs that my Buff Orpingtons and Black Sex-Link chickens lay.

I expect that the eggs will get "somewhat" bigger as these Leghorn pullets mature.

Leghorns may be the most "prolific" egg-laying chicken....but, so far...there is NO COMPARISON in the size of the eggs.
Rather "smallish" little things.

Is this what I can expect in the future from the Leghorns?

just curious,

My leghorn hen is the smallest of my hens and she lays the MOST HUGE egg of all of them... and more often than the rest of them as well.

My leghorn started laying tiny eggs but now a month later she is laying really large eggs everyday, so don't worry!

Small chicken witha big egg. makes them cheaper to feed and produce a good return on it..... Must be why they are the bigg egg farms favorite chickens.

WELL, Folks....

THAT is a LOT to expect from a "little" chicken.......BUT,

EVERYONE seems to agree....

So, I'll expect Production from these Leghorns to vastly IMPROVE little-by-little in the Future.
(assuming that the "machinery" doesn't break-down !!!)

THANKS for the "Unanimous Verdict" !
