:woot Yep, you are just starting your hatching season! What fun!

This is my cockerel. He is the only chick I have with a comb like that. This is one of the other Leghorns. There are only two besides the cockerel. One of them has a little comb and the other has nothing. They are a lot smaller then him. Does anyone think that means they might be pullets?

This is him with his sparring body. The one in the middle. The B.R. I'm hoping is a pullet. I have two of them and they are nice little birds, never fight. I have had the bad luck in the past of my pullets turning into cockerels when they were around 6 months old.

Here he is giving me the eye. His comb isn't pink like it looks in the picture and I definitely know he's a cockerel unless the pullets crow too. I've heard they do but these guys aren't even old enough to be doing that. I had three cockerels that didn't start to crow until they were around 6 months except a black Orpington that totally fooled me and she had to be 7 months old.

.
Someone please revive this thread! Or should I say someone help me revive this thread! I have 3 white Leghorns and they are almost 7 weeks old. I know for sure that one of them is a cockerel. He started maturing right away. He has been trying to crow and doing a pretty good job of it. He is also a little bully. Let's get some interest going on this thread. I'll post some pics of my birds as soon as I find them. I hope someone out there is interested in WL's and will post something.

there has been more activity on the leghorn photo thread...

but, what do you mean that one of the white ones has no comb at all? Is it maybe a white wyandotte with a rose comb?

I went in the search field and asked if there was a leghorn thread and it brought up a few. I clicked on one and it was all old posts. That's why I had said let's revive the leghorn thread.
When I posted these pictures I had gone on a Leghorn threadsa and ended up here. I don't know how that happened. There are 3 white Leghorns and one of them hasn't gotten a comb yet. One has a little tiny one and the other has a big comb and wattles and they are pink. The man I got the chickens has only 3 breeds. WL, BR, and Ameraucanas that are probably EE"s. I need to quit posting anything and I thought I was on a Leghorn thread and was wrong. So much for that. Alaskan, I think there's not much interest in WL. I'll have to go and search again. No wyandottes. Thanks

Alaskan, do you see the pics up in the corner? Those of the Leghorn in recent pictures. I was on the right thread. Those are my pics. How they ended up in the other thread, I don't know. I guess I'm just going to look from no on and not reply. I must not do it right. You gave me some good info, actually you gave it to the other person so I will have to look closer at my chicks. thanks

Hummm..... it is odd though that the one has no comb yet... usually even the girls have giant ones. Well, considering the breeds that the breeder has... maybe it could be a white Leghorn crossed with an EE, and that is how it got no comb?

And I agree, NONE of the leghorn anythings on BYC get much traffic, which is a shame, because Leghorns totally rock. They are the egg producing rock stars of the chicken world!

They also come in loads of colors.

And DON'T go quiet! Replying is good!

X2. Hahah...rock stars. Leghorns are taken for granted. Just look at what big industry does to them! I will always favor Leghorns, just like I'll favor Australian Cattle Dogs. Both may be too much for some people, but I love 'em.

I have regular production single comb white leghorns... nothing can beat them for VERY nice sized eggs laid as fast as a chicken can,

I also have rose comb whites and rose comb dark browns.... they are very pretty girls, but they aren't any way close to as productive (size of eggs, or number of eggs) as the production single cob white leghorns.

I am ordering some more rose comb whites and rose comb dark brown from a different breeder this year.... I hope these will have better egg size and number than the ones I got last year.

They sure are pretty chickens though!
