I found a chicken and brought it home. From what i have seen on the internet it is a Leghorn. What i need to know is if it is a male or female. It is all white with a red on the head and under the beak. It also has red earmuffs. I will post a pic soon. Can anyone tell me how to tell the sex of the chicken. I also do not know how old the chicken is. I also just bought an Ameracauna chick. all white. The feed store I bought it from said that all the chicks were female. I am looking to get fresh eggs from my new chicken farm. I am converting an old clubhouse I built for my daughter into a coop. It is 8'x4' and around 12' to the top of the peek of the roof. any suggestions on what to add to it to make it more suitable. Also if anyone can tell me how many chickens are good in a coop that size. Thanks.

You could put 3 birds to max 4 birds of small size like Ameraucana or White leghorn in this kind of setup..... If you can post a pic here , I can help you determine if boy or girl for the leghorn.

We really need a better pic but just off that I'm thinking it's a white rock, not a leghorn. It looks quite solid, leghorns are light bodied. The redness of the comb makes me think roo, but I'm hedging this against better pics.

Looks like a white rock pullet. In an 8 x 4' coop, you can comfortably fit 8 standard sized birds IF they have at least 10 sq ft per bird of run space.

Yes and yes.

I think that's a White Plymouth Rock. It might be a cockerel, depending on age - its face is pretty red.
