Lemongrass?

Anyone have Lemongrass growing around their chickens?

I want to plant some in my garden around my coop/run in order
to help repel the FLIES....thinking I can break off a few stems/leaves
every now and then, to let out the fragrance...

Lemongrass is not toxic to humans but just checking
if it'll be safe around my shikens...

Any kind of bug repellant deprives the chickens of needed protein

Correct...I should've been more clear...I do encourage bug activity...composting, etc.
I want to be able to yank some leaves and though and toss into coop/run to keep down the fly activity...
Outside in their free-range area....lots of plants/bugs/etc.
