How long does it take until the chick comes out?? Why is it bad to help?? Under a hen is it ok if the egg is face down one the opening??

How long does it take until the chick comes out??

From the time it starts pipping until the chick is out can be 12 to 36 hours. It just seems longer.

Why is it bad to help??

The chick needs to go through a long process to pip, zip, and hatch, including absorbing the yolk. If you help it out, you usually do more harm than good. It needs to hatch the way nature intended.

Under a hen is it ok if the egg is face down one the opening??

If a hen is hatching the eggs, it is almost always best to leave them alone. She knows what she is doing. Mama knows best. I know it is hard, but be patient.
