How soon could I feed me chickens sprouted lentils? I put the lentils in water two days ago and they already started sprouting. My rooster didn't seem to attracted to them (never had anything like that before) I'm wondering if I have to wait till they grow more and become green? How long will that take? Right now the garden doesn't have much greens, it hasn't rained, we have no well, and there's no running water we live in the country side; there aren't many insects right now, we let them free range but we also give them feed (the fighting rooster type that a has lots of different grains and pellets). I want them to be as healthy and be happy as possible without spending too much. Any suggestions?

Hello!
I sprout lentils in a mason jar for about 3 to 4 days. It grows so much more after day 2!
Honestly, when I first introduced it to my chickens, they weren't completely interested. However, I continue to make it every so often and spread it out for them to pick at. Even if they aren't frantically consuming every morsel of sprouts, any bit is a plus.

I inherited by two older hens, and they weren't used to it. I currently have four chicks, so I will start them on it while they are young so they can develop a "taste" for it.

Good luck!
