I have 5 girls that have been laying since Feb and May. I had been getting 4 - 5 eggs a day. Now that the temps are are 95-100 every day, I have only been getting 2 - 3 a day. I saw my RIR girl in the nest box twice today and no egg from her.

Is it normal not to get as many eggs in the summer?

Also, could it take longer for the "babies" (19 weeks) to start laying? I have a mister set up in the chicken yard so it stays a bit cooler than other areas. I guess I'm just getting impatient!

A lot of people are reporting fewer eggs due to the heat.

A few of mine started laying in this 100 plus temps. They were about 18 weeks when i got my first. Am now up to 3 or 4 per day from 10 hens. Not sure who is laying but they are very small eggs. It won't be long for you. Good Luck

My daughter went from 8-9 eggs a day from her 12 hens to zero these last couple of weeks. I am sure they are molting and the rainy weather is probably depressing them as much as it does us. It has rained the whole month of June. What happened to April showers bring may flowers??????
