Do you guys and gals think that there is less of a market in most rural areas for white eggs compared to brown? I will have 2 doz. White Leghorn eggs in the incubator this week and I'm just wondering because most people put out signs that say "Fresh Brown Eggs".

So put yours out as saying Fresh White Eggs, bet you still get customers.

I have found that most everyone loves fresh farm eggs but there is a faction that don't and won't eat a brown farm egg. They will adamantly insist that they have a "strong" flavor as opposed to a white egg!

Brown eggs look more yummy/chocolatey to my eye but, to be honest, you are safer offering the white eggs. That way, if you have some cuckoo that things brown eggs look "dirty" or taste "strong", you have both bases covered....your eggs are fresh farm eggs and they are the more preferred white eggs.

some ppl think brown eggs taste different, and others think that brown eggs are healthier. i think brown are pretty. i think you will have a market. most rural ppl understand theres no difference with the color

If putting out a sign just put out fresh eggs, once they see that you have chickens they will know they are fresh.

Many have no clue

white= store eggs
brown= farm eggs
blue/green= rotten eggs

who knows you may find people willing to pay more for white farm eggs. not the usual brown farm eggs.

I got a brown leghorn as one of my 3 birds because my wife (the cuckoo ) had reservations against brown eggs. I'll bet that changes eventually.

I just collected egg #5 this morning from my RIR (the other 2 haven't started yet) and I love the color! They just need to get bigger.

I'd go with both brown and white layers if you can.

Stupid enough as it sounds, when I first got chickens, everyone assumed they would be brown, even though they didn't even know the breed. I think many people are misled to believe that white eggs come from companies and stores whereas brown eggs are the fresh, homegrown eggs.

Perhaps write "fresh homegrown eggs" on the sign. That sounds even better than "fresh brown eggs"

Thanks for the help everyone! I will also be getting some RIR's after my Leghorn's are hatched so I can sell white, brown, or mixed eggs.

I think you will do fine with white eggs that are Farm Fresh Eggs
