I’ve got three barnyard mutts (Orpington/Cochin, Orpington/RIR) they are 16wks now. Still can’t tell with the feathers. I’m leaning towards roo on the first one, with the dark feet. Idk - anyone care to guess?

I'm leaning towards cockerel towards the chick with the black feet, but I'm not sure. A few more pics of the tail and neck feathers could clear things out. The one with the white tail looks like a pullet due to the rounded tail feathers. The one with the feathered feet in the last pic looks like a pullet, but not sure. More pics would help.

Thank you! I will try and get some better ones, they are in that wild ‘let’s run-but kind-of-fly everywhere!’ stage haha. I couldn’t tell if the neck feathers look wispy or not.

If you have pics of when they were about 6 weeks old,
it's much easier to tell at that age then at 16 weeks.

But then again at 16wo the hackles and saddles should be pretty clear, but they are not.

I'd guess slow to mature cockerels or 'hermaphrodites' (that's not the right word but CRS right now).

I agree that the pictures from when they were 6 weeks old should help a lot.

Why does it hafta be so freaking difficult? They should all be like my coturnix quail, roos started crowing at 3 weeks & hens started laying at 6 weeks! Those actions remove all question & doubt.
