let the games begin! our first egg

Ginger, our Columbian cross raised quite a ruckus this morning. Someone had been playing in the nest boxes for a while, knocking everything out. Then, this morning Ginger refused to get out of the nest box and eat with the others. ALL the chickens had been screaming for hours, yet when my daughter checked under her - nothing, only the ceramic brown egg. Minutes later there was an egg, and she left the nest box. A small, perfect pullet egg with no mother in sight - apparently Lucy, the dark Brahma wouldn't leave her alone - the other Columbian rock that is the same age has no where the same comb development yet- Ginger came home to us on March 19 - that makes her 20 weeks!

They do make quite the ruckus sometimes during those first eggs, congratulations.

all of them were crazy loud and interested, this will be interesting tomorrow if theyre so loud, they were like thus for hours before she laid it

I wish i knew what they were saying, my son in law gets first dibs, so many friends want fresh eggs and i cant wait to pist a puc of the yolk color

Jon had an agg sandwich for breakfast! The small one is ours the other is a store bought organic egg. J

After the first egg, Ginger skipped a day and gave us this new one today - little less crazy with the heathens and less loud!
