Lethal Duck Genes?

My first thought was: Was the feed medicated?

Also I have heard of where ducklings go into shock just from water, I have not had any problems with it, and I can not remember the details of what causes it, but I think call ducks were most affected by it. Some ducklings would appear to have seizures and die after drinking water. Does anybody else know anything or heard about that? It would make sense if they died shorthly after being fed and watered.

If they are being given water 3 times a day, the "water shock" should not be a problem. I would suspect the mold. Check bedding, food, food containers, feeders, waterers, everything. If they have access to the outdoors, check everywhere they can go and touch. In a garage, make sure they cannot get to any antifreeze or any chemicals of any kind.

Since you discouver them dead a while after feeding and watering, can you stay out with them for some time after feeding them so you can watch them for signs of stress at any point? Young ducklings that are still mostly down covered will also chill and die just from getting wet. They get wet just drinking and if the waterer is such that they can get into it and splash, they can end up soaked. If that is the issue, and you see any having trouble standing and shivering or flopping over, get them DRY AND WARM AS FAST AS POSSIBLE.
