Lethargic 2 day old chick

Don't feel bad, sometimes there are weak ones. You did great. Unfortunately this is the bad part of having chicks, they just can't tell us what is wrong. But all of the rest of the cuties that are doing well make up for losing a weak one.

I'm sorry for your loss :(. You did everything you could-the poor little one probably just wasn't destined to survive....... Best of luck with all the others!

Yes, so far the others are doing well. They spent their first night in brooders out in the coop last night, and came through with flying colors! It's funny because when I first got them, I counted them as I took them out of the shipping box to make sure I had all 25. I counted 25, all was good. Then they day I lost that first chick, all the babies were sleeping, and I counted them again, and still counted 25! I counted over a few times, and then had my husband count. I still had 25! So, the hatchery must have stuck an extra one in, (a Plymouth barred rock), so even though I lost one, I still have the same amount I ordered. The chick I lost was a Leghorn, so I was sad about that, as I was looking forward to lots of eggs, but it is what it is. I have noticed that my Golden Laced Wyandottes are smaller than the other chicks, but they seem to be growing well. I'm starting to relax a bit, it was scary for me to put them out yesterday, but they did good!

We have Silver laced Wyandottes and Blue Laced Red Wyandottes right now, and they do seem to grow slower then our other chicks. Still growing and doing well, but just not as fast as the others. I wonder if this is just the breed?

I just had this chick hatch Wednesday morning and he just passed away in my hand
