I have an 2 month old chick who has been quite, and puffed up.She usually is quite, but also generally is catching bugs running fast, fighting, now she is just quite and puffed up and will barely run even when a hen tries attacking her.

I had a similar situation with my teenage common brown. When I went to let them out in the morning she was still on the perch and not moving which is unusual as she is normally so lively. I picked her up and put her down and she could barely stand. I was on goole for most of the morning but couldn't figure out what was wrong. My sister is a veterinary nurse and advised to take her to the vet which I did. Apparently she was egg bound but the egg was stuck too far up to do anything to help. She was so poorly, shaking and eyes closed. The vet advised the kindest thing to do was put her to sleep. I was heart broken.

I was wondering if there are signs before hand which I should have spotted? She was absolutely fine the day before so she went down hill pretty fast. She had never laid before, so this was her first egg.

RIP baby Ethel :(

TheTwoRoos I hope yours improves. I don't know what to suggest - it doesn't sound good that she isn't defending herself.

She will if she is approached and I meant 2 month old chick not 8 months.I'm thinking it may just be something trying to process threw her.I have changed up their diet a lil bit.
