How hot/cold is your brooder?
How old was this chick?
Do you have other chicks where this one came from right now? If so go get a picture of their poop.

I have a heat lamp (the kind you use for reptiles) with the hottest area measuring 99 during the day and 95 at night. The cooler end ranges from 78 - 83, depending on how warm my room gets (don't have AC, unfortunately). This chick was somewhere between 6 to 7 days old. As far as other chicks from the same location, do you mean breeder or their present location? I can get pics of poop, but not until I get home, which won't be for a good 10 hours or so as I'm working overtime for the next few weeks.

That is too hot.
Lower the 'hot' side down to 85 asap.

Don't force anything in the mouth... One drop down the wrong pipe of a chick can kill it.
If you need to give it anything drop drops on the side of the beak... One at a time so they can swallow themselves.

Okay, I can do that. They all huddle up in the warmest part, so I thought it was okay. I've been told that if it was too hot, they wouldn't voluntarily hang out under the light? I have a rheostat, though, so I can set it for 85 as soon as I get home tonight

They may be too slow to realize they are too hot.

I hope I didn't cause her to die with the water D: but it kind of sounds like it because she only started gasping once I started dropping a little water into her beak.... She may not have even been able to swallow the water properly, because she was very skinny and the skin on her legs was wrinkled. Her crop did start to feel full after giving her water, because I noticed it was completely empty when I first found her huddled in the corner today. I don't think she had any food all day long

I know...what I'm trying to say is that if 99 is too hot for a two day old its way too hot for a week old.

Oh, that makes sense. I can't fix it until I get home, unfortunately. For now, hopefully they'll be okay. I may even be able to remove that heat bulb entirely because I think my room has been warm enough for them

I just got home from work. My room is about 78F. The brooder was reading 91 in the hot spot, so I turned off the lamp. I think if the chicks get chilly, they can keep each other warm because they always dogpile when they sleep.
