Lethargic chicken about egg laying age

:hugsOh dear, you posted the video while I was typing - I'm so sorry she doesn't look to well. I know you are doing all you can for her.

You may want to up your dosage on the Corid, normally it's best to give the "severe outbreak dosage". Corid is mild and won't hurt her even if Coccidiosis is not the problem.
Corid dosage for Cocci is 1 1/2 teaspoons Corid powder per gallon or 2 teaspoons of 9.6% Corid liquid per gallon. Make this the only water available.

I fear that she may have something else going on, infection or some other illness since you lost LuLu too. If you do send her for any testing, please let me know.

It's hard to see them suffering, I'm very sorry, I know how this feels I put one of my lovely hens down earlier this week - never easy, but something that we all must face if we keep chickens.

Thank you for the hugs. Edna won't leave her side. I would isolate her but we have delt with this for a week and she is still healthy. Hubby got a few more tablespoons of vitamin water in Alice before we closed up the coop. It's in God's hands now. I'll update in the AM. Thank you for you good thoughts

Wyorp: So sorry you lost your hen. I have really appreciated your help and support through this.

Alice died last night. It was expected. Edna stayed by her side. She has called out a couple of times but unfortunately, she is an only hen now. We are making plans to get more which makes me a little nervous but I will be cleaning and disinfecting the coop today. We'll see about getting some new chickens in a week or so. I don't want Edna to be too lonely OR get used to being by herself. Need to figure out a quarantine protocol. Honestly, I am more concerned giving something to the new chickens than I am about Edna picking something up.

I looked up testing for Mareks. Alice would need to be refrigerated until tomorrow. I'm not set up to do that. Any other thoughts on how to preserve?

I'm so very sorry about Alice:hugs

Thank for the sympathy - it's always a bit hard to lose one, but I expected it with mine, so I had time to prepare myself.

Getting some company for Edna is a good idea, chickens can do o.k. by themselves by really thrive with one another. I'm sure she is missing Alice - give her a little extra attention and I'm sure she will be fine.

You can try preserving her body in cooler or styrofoam lined box with ice or dry ice - I've included a link that Kathy made to show how ship birds for necropsy. I hope you will be able to send her so you can get some answers. Please keep us posted on the results.

Thank you for the link. I researched labs in my area after posting and found one about 50 miles from my house. I went out to get her on some ice packs and discovered she was gone. My husband took her with him when he left this AM so I wouldn't have to deal with it. We had talked about testing but he didn't know it would be a necropsy. After all this, I guess we wont find out. It was sweet of him but I'm a little disappointed. We are going to have our Vet do a wellness check when he is back in town. He's a mobile vet and hopefully see's chickens in his travels. I will reports back if he has any ideas.

I cleaned everything out (bleach wipe down inside and out, new bedding, new sand, etc.) The coop was built 2 months ago and we spot clean it daily. It really wasn't that bad. They free range in the yard so there will always be poop. We just do what we can there. Edna is fine but I never thought my yard would be so quiet for lack of chickens.

Alice and Lulu being "bad" while standing on my table a week ago :)

Awww....:hugs You're husband sounds very kind.

I hope that Edna continues to do well and you find some girls to keep her company. It's hard when you don't have any answers, but let's hope that there will not be a next time.

Thanks for posting the sweet photo:)
