Hello all,

Been a while since I’ve had to post. Sadly I’ve got two sick chickens. The first one was find running around with the others till about 2pm then she wouldn’t walk and seamed just tired. Brought her inside for the night since it was colder out and she was already cold. She warmed up with a heat lamp but showed no sign of wanting to eat or stand. She wouldn’t put her legs up under her right to stand. It’s been 4 days now I’ve given hydro hen and a little antibiotic per the vet. I did find some stringy brown thin things in her poop thinking it could be worms so I started a dewormer too. She’s now standing on her own and pushing up to a standing position but not eating or showing interest unless I put it on her beak. Her poop is now green and basically just water. Someone said to try corid so I started that today.

My second chicken was showing the same signs and symptoms but has had green runny poop from the beginning. She’s gotten all the same treatments and is now walking a couple steps but limping. I did find a spot of bumble foot on her and treated that per normal she’s now drinking water on her own but I haven’t seen her eat anything either.

For both all water has been through syringe. Till today when thing 2 started drinking on her own but I am still giving some by syringe. Thing 1 dose nothing on her own but I did feed some egg and egg yolk today she shallows and chews on her own but won’t peck at anything on her own.

Did the Vet have any recommendations as to what disease or condition you are dealing with?

What antibiotic did the Vet give you?
How old are the birds?
What do you feed, including treats?

Corid will treat Coccidiosis, it won't hurt them if you treat for it. Be sure to omit extra vitamins or supplements that contain B1(Thiamine) during the course of treatment.

From your description, not being able to walk, green poop, not eating, etc. You may be dealing with Marek's disease, but it's hard to know since there's so many diseases and conditions that affect poultry. If you lose one, then getting testing/necropsy through your state lab would give you the most information. You can look up your lab in the link below.

Can you post photos of the birds and their poop?
What are you deworming with, the product and dose?

Liquid Corid dose is 2tsp or Powdered Corid Dose is 1 1/2tsp per gallon of water given for 5-7 days as the only source of drinking water.
Do not add any extra vitamins/electrolytes that contain B1(Thiamine) to food or water during the course of treatment.

No the vet didn’t not recommend anything specific. We did the antibiotic just for precaution it’s one for bacterial infection called tylson.

They are both 8 months born in March. They are leghorns from tractor supply. I had one other leghorn from tractor supply but she got lethargic one day, when I picked her up to bring her inside she started to seize then passed in a matter of seconds. I feed a local co op finisher feed because my whole flock is very skinny. I give dried grub worms and hen scratch for treats. Yesterday I added sunflower seeds and millet.

I started the corid liquid yesterday and I was following the ratio. I did LevaMed dewormer but only for 24 hours before switching to corid. Dose was like 1/4 teaspoon to 1 gallon. I also have them on Ativan super pack electrolytes I put a picture of the front and back of package.

There poop I don’t have pictures of but it’s literally just clear water with green flecks. Kinda like algae in a pond, along with the white stuff that’s normally on chicken poop But floating in the water.

I did also put a picture of chicken 1 from the first day when she wouldn’t stand. Now she’s standing but not eating or drinking on her own. Thing 2 is walking some and drinking on her own but I haven’t seen her eat.
