Hi all. I need advice and help. I have a speckled Sussex that is almost 6 years old. 2 months ago she was being bullied very badly, to the point I thought the others would kill her. I removed her from the coop and she has a solo setup now and her own coop. I’ve discovered since she has northern fowl mites and have been treating her and the coop with permethrin. With one more treatment all mites will/should be gone.

Originally, she improved greatly being separated from the flock. (unable to reintroduce her as the same behavior would occur). However recently she has been on a downfall. It began with not walking as much during free range time and has slowly turned into not walking at all. When I set her down to stand, she can not take more that two steps without falling forward. Her wings droop down to her side as well. She pecks the grass when sitting down and will preen sitting down. She will eat and drink, but I must put that in front of her. I have been giving her riboflavin & vitamin E to support muscle and mind. She also gets electrolytes in her water. She clucks and makes sounds to us. It just seems like she is not improving at all and I don’t know what else to do. It breaks my heart but I am considering euthanasia so that she is not in pain, although there are no obvious signs of suffering, I know birds are masters and hiding their pain. I just don’t want to let it go on longer if there is nothing that will help her get better, although I hope there is a way to help her heal. Please help!!!! Any and all advice is appreciated.

What is she eating? I would give her a bit of liver to boost her iron and all b vitamins. She may be anemic from the mites. She also is 6 and could be starting to go down hill. Has she been laying eggs recently?

She eats scratch & mealworms & regular feed although prefers the first two more, so right now I give her access to all so that she gets more food in her). She has not laid in months, this is normal as none of our girls do through winter. I do give her vitamin B, I will get some things to boost her iron more like you suggested. That is a good idea.
