Hi @mandylee Welcome To BYC:frow

Your chick is probably suffering from Coccidiosis. Treatment is with Corid which can be found at most feed stores in the cattle section or online.

Corid dosage is 1 1/2 teaspoons Corid powder per gallon or 2 teaspoons of 9.6% Corid liquid per gallon. Give for 5-7 days - make sure this is the ONLY water available during that time period. Mix a fresh batch at least once a day. After they finish treatment offer some poultry vitamins and probiotics/plain yogurt.

Thank you!

Can treating with corid be harmful if it's not cocci? I originally thought that's what it was but none of the other chicks seemed to be affected... and I still haven't determined who made the bloody poo...I thought maybe intestinal lining which I've read can be normal at times... then I thought maybe stress... so I sat my butt outside the coop today for 2 hours and just watched them ( I only have them in the coop right now because i just moved them to the coop and I want them to get use to it...and I'm still working on the run) what I found was that my one Easter egger is bullying the one that seems lethargic ( and most of the other chicks) then I notice my Easter egger kept picking at my silkie... my poor silkies leg feathers are half gone... So I've just seperated the Easter egger ( not happy at all) and my chick that's been lethargic got up had a drink and something to eat and then went back to rest... So I'm not sure what to do... Can feather picking cause these systems as well? If there's a chance that it's cocci I'd rather treat my flock then lose them... I love my chickens... So what do you think? And how long do you think I should keep the Easter egger seperated from the flock?

Thank you for all the info on corid and dosages :)

Corid is Amprolium which is probably what is in your medicated chick starter, so you are giving a very small dose of Amprol (Amprolium) already. What you want to give would be an outbreak dosage as described in the previous post. The medication is a Coccidiostat and is very mild - won't hurt even if your problem is not Cocci overload.

It's possible what you see is intestinal shedding, but...with the chick being lethargic, going off feed, not active, etc., I would suspect Cocci.

Could be the EE was keeping her from food/water and she is suffering from dehydration, but that would not explain poop like that.

Silkies can be bullied, they are a bit "different" and can be targeted. Sometimes Silkies have to be kept separately from large fowl because of picking issues.

I just lost 5 chicks to cocci, I started the corid 4 days ago and the remaining 6 are back to normal. This is the first time that I have lost any to cocci. It is heart breaking. I guess I will have to start using the medicated feed.

Medicated feed will NOT prevent Cocci.

I lost 1 to Cocci a few weeks ago. Treated with 1 1/2 tsp in a gallon of water, changed every day for 5 days and they are all fine now. I used sav a chik probiotic in their water for the next week after treatment. It def wont hurt even if its not cocci. Better safe than sorry.
