I just lost 5 chicks to cocci, I started the corid 4 days ago and the remaining 6 are back to normal. This is the first time that I have lost any to cocci. It is heart breaking. I guess I will have to start using the medicated feed.

True, but it can reduce the loads to allow the chicks to build immunity.

I know that it is coccidiosis from the signs and symptoms. Lethargic, bloody stool, decreased appetite and death. The others are responding to treatment. Illness occurred approximately 10 days after moving them from the brooder to the coop. The dosage is correct 2 tsp per gallon refreshed every 24 hours.

They died very quickly, the day prior they were fine. They were dead the following morning. I started treatment immediately and they have responded well. It is not necessary to change the medication. It is a sneaky parasite.

I believe it's a prophylactic so whilst not a preventative, it will help to reduce the severity of symptoms
