Hi.. My hen went broody. She hatched 4 chicks, spendt the last 10 weeks looking, after them..She has been amazin. Then she went into a full molt. And now she is totally lethargic, keeps one eye closed a lot. And ever so often she opens her beak to breath..She is very slow getting up onto things, like she is heavy and stiff..
I m so worried, what is wrong do you think? Is she totally exhausted after everything she has been through? Or is it something more seriously?

She eat fermented weat and barley..Lots of millets.,sunseeds. And also her chicks growers pellets.
This is why. That’s a lot of extra without a lot of protein. Keep her solely on the chick grower pellets. Your chicken needs protein right now to recover from being broody and the molt. I also always give a week dose of poultry cell to my broody hens and chicks after they hatch also during any molt.

I too would advise getting her some protein, ideally animal not plant protein, so meat, or fish, or insects, or dairy (any form, e.g. cheese, plain natural yogurt, curds, whey, even milk if nothing else available). Some birds really suffer during moult, but in any case, new feathers are made largely of protein, so she needs more at this time, and animal protein is complete, unlike plant protein.

Yes I will do it now..She had some tuna fish and some cheese..She was mad after the cheese..She usualy spend the day free ranging, I m sure she find bugs out there in nature..
Thank you for the advices

My hen Gwenevere is not picking up.
She is just getting worse..She is now having cream coloured poop with dark green bits in..She is so pale now, and she just want to sleep all the time..She do drink a bit, and manage some soaked bread..But is not doing very well at all.
I am so devastated, she is my happy bouncy hen, who loves to sit on my rocking chair and get it rocking..
I hope so much she will pick up again. Its been 9 days now..
