One of my Buckeye hens is acting extrememly lethargic. I'm not sure what's wrong, but she barely moves about the coop and doesn't have interest in going outside. When we were away for a couple of days over the weekend, my friend who was watching them didn't water them. darn friend! So they all went about 1 1/2 days without water. All the others are fine, but this one just lays around.

I mixed up some antibiotic in water and quarantied her in a porta pet cage with it and food. Not sure if she'll be alive when I get home. It's either going to snap her out of it or she'll die I'm afraid. Anyone have any thoughts/ideas?

Thanks

I would not have removed her, they like the company of others, and I would have given some electrolytes and maybe sugar. Some Gatorade added to the water will do in a pinch, or you can get electrolytes at the feed store. There is no indication for an antibiotic, and this just builds an immunity in her for the future.

Well, I put her in her own cage (it's still in the coop) because I didn't want the other birds drinking her treated water.
Might try the gatorade this evening, thanks.
