One of our aumericana hens was fine yesterday and this morning I found her layin in the nesting box and not moving. I left her fora bit and she was still there. When I pick her up I getno reaction what so ever. Her les are limp and shejust looks at you. She won't drink or eat anything either. She has not started to lay eggs yet. I first thought maybe that's hat she was doing in there. ANy suggestions? everyone else is happy as always. Thank you

How is your hen doing today? That sounds pretty serious. My guess would be she was over heated. My hens are struggling in this heat. I've been giving them watermelon, yogurt and adding vitamins and electrolytes to their water. I also have a fan in the coop aimed at the nesting boxes and one in the run. I hope she's drinking by now. That's the most important thing. Use a syringe or eye dropper to get fluids in her. Good luck!

Hi! I have had the same problem with my hen for the last 3 days. She was getting "picked on" by some of the others and all of a sudden, wouldn't come out of the nesting box. I thought maybe she was egg bound, but after checking she is not. My girl is a little older at 1 1/2 years but I am very worried! The moderator thinks she may just be broody (my Husband laugh and says that I am the only one allowed to be moody in the family). I am still doing some research. If I find out any info, I will let you know!
Good Luck!

Do you think that she is just broody and that is what is causing her behavior? I have a chicken doing the same thing and I am worried. She is not egg bound and when prompted strongly will exit and get some food and water, but not much. Any info you can provide would be helpful
Thank you!
