Lethargic One Week Old Chick - HELP!!

You're welcome. Yes the PolyVisol is not necessary, but you can use them possibly when the chicks don't require electrolytes. They are given sometimes for chicks that develop symptoms of vitamin deficiency with toe and leg problems or wry neck, but let's pray that you don't need them.

For future reference, how long should baby chicks be given electrolytes? I'm wondering if I stopped them too soon and that caused the weakness in this chick. Thank you!

Actually they don't normally need to be given at all. Some hatcheries will recommend Grow Gel, which I will use for the first day only, and others recommend a little sugar water the first day. I don't think you stopped them too soon at all--if I ever use the Save-A-Chick it is only for a day. They are mainly for when you do see a problem or weakness. I don't think you did anything wrong. How is the chick doing?

She's eating and drinking, just not as vigorously as the other chicks. She still seems to want to be laying down, although when she does move around, she seems pretty normal, maybe not quite as agile. She's alert. Her poop is a bit runny, dark brown, no white.
