Hi, does anyone happen to know why a young chicken (about 3+ months old) would be all fluffed up and lethargic? Her comb has lost color and is kind of scaly too. We put her on medicated chick feed yesterday but I don't know if that will help. She weighs less then a pound but looks like she should weigh at least 2 or three pounds. She's a barred rock. I am new to chickens and have taken a liking to this little bird. Don't want to lose her.

Could be coccidiosis you can treat with CORID or a generic source of amprolium at 20%. The medicated feed will not do anything to help-there's not enough amprolium to make a difference. If she wont drink on her own then you will need to medicate her yourself by using a baby medicine dropper and letting single drops fall to the tip of her beak, should seep under and in the crack forcing her to swallow.

Thanks for the help. I went to the store after work and picked up a bunch of supplies that others said would help but unfortunately she didn't make it until I got home. On the bright side (I guess) I am prepared if something like this happens again.
