So, I have two Turkey chicks, one is quite a bit older and larger than the younger one. All was fine, even after we transferred them into the chicken coup with the chicks and still fine until we took the heat lamp out. Naturally at first I figured she was cold but the weather has been so warm that I've had to open the windows in the coup as it gets too warm for them. I've seen her eat, but not as vigorously as she normally does. I give them treats like mashed boiled egg, yogurt, lettuce and a little bread. They always get a mash of their food and yogurt and I mix a teaspoon of molasses and apple cider vinegar in over a gallon of water. I've done that since my chicks were hatched. The turkey chicks we got when they were at least 2 months old for the large one and a month old for the younger.

She is acting lethargic, always wants to be held so she can sleep... I know she's eating because her crop is full and the only time they get shells is when I give them something to eat where they need them. She's not cold or sick that I can see but she's also not herself.

I have a hutch with adult turkeys and a chicken coup with just over a month old chickens that she and the other chick have been raised with. She holds her own with them when she's active. I have the two chicks in the house every now and again. I have another brooder full of baby chicks in the house again so I put her in with them - they are healthy and so is she, she's just lethargic and always wanting to be held and sleep.

I have turkey feed for them but they insist on eating the chick feed for their age group and its pretty hard to have two different types of feed in the coup.

Does anyone have some advice for this little chick? I'd sure appreciate it.

She died about a month ago. I don't know why.
I'm sorry...

Thanks so much, Kuntrygirl. That means a lot. Rue was one of those rare, darling birds that just loved to be held and snuggle with you. I was so upset when I found her lying on her back in the brooder. It was also upsetting when members read my post but no one replied, not even with sympathy. Then to get a post from admin with their rules... Is it so much to ask for a little sympathy! Since then I haven't been on here for awhile. I figured, what's the point. But I will keep you in mind, thanks again.

Thank you Mr. MKK FARMS. I appreciate your comments. Even though Rue, my little brown turkey chick, would have grown to around a 30 pound bird, I think she would have still wanted to sit on my lap. She is gone but I have the most darling pictures and memories of her. Amber, the other turkey chick that was with her, is growing into a fine bird who loves to be cuddled too, in my lap. She is doing very well.

I am so sorry. I try my best to read through all of the posts every day and find those who have ZERO replies and reply back. I'm sorry because I guess I didn't see yours until today. I know it's upsetting when you post and don't get any replies and you notice that people have saw your post. But remember that maybe they didn't know the answer to your question, which may be why they didn't reply. It wasn't because they didn't want to reply. They may have been a newbie and just didn't know. That's why I take time to find the posts that no one has responded to and try to help. Sometimes, it's too late like this time. I feel bad that she died and you didn't get a reply.

Please don't get discouraged. This is a great site and everyone is very helpful. Contact me directly next time.

I bet Rue was a sweetie pie. RIP Rue. We will miss you. :hugs
