I have a 3 year old easter egger hen that I found just sitting in the coop today. It's very hot here so my first thought was heat stroke. She was very lethargic and let me handle her with ease which she usually doesn't like. I put her in front of water and food and she didn't go for it. I got a fan in the coop and aimed in at her which she seemed to like and tried to put some water in her with a dropper. She did not like the water dropper much. I tried tomato and watermelon and neither interested her. I cracked an egg and put it in front of her and she took 2 bites of the yolk. I also managed to get some watermelon juice in her with the dropper, but not much. I also tried setting her in a pan with cold water. she just sat there and closed her eyes for about 10 minutes. I now have her in a rabbit cage w/food and water in the coop so the others wont pick at her. She tried to stand and managed to for a few seconds and then plopped back down. She is not panting like she is hot but is just very listless and can't get around. Any ideas? Could it be heat issue without the panting?
