Lets all put our thinking caps on!!!!

Teach them to drink from a straw... Hey, we're brainstorming here... no bad answers right?

In asia dont they have chicken cages expanded over, i think, tilapia ponds? maybe that would work with ducks too. Or the ducks end up having a nice snack.Other than that a very heavy duty pond filter

A fountain wouldn't work I don't think because the filter and/or pump would get clogged with mud and poop. The best thing I can think of is pumping water from a natural resource (ie. and stream, pond, lake, creek, river....etc) and having a fresh flow of water drain into some sort of "pool" that the ducks have access to and then have the water drain back into whatever you pumped it out of. I wish I could send drawings instead of typing....

I think the best way to go, it put a trough style waterer outside the fence. Making the ducks still their heads through it. Like they do with commercial chick brooders.

If that wasn't an option, you can try making a hanging waterer. Such as we use for chicken feed. The only problem is, a chicken waterer is not deep enough, so you would have to make your own with a deeper pan. Then you would have to figure out how to hang it, I'm thinking instead of hanging the bucket/waterer itself, I would make a suspended platform that I would sit the waterer on. The logic behind this is to make the waterer removable/cleanable/refillable without have to drag the hose in. The platform would also provide a LEVEL area to "hang" the waterer from.

This keeps feet out of the water and makes it a little more challenging to "bathe" in the drinking water.

Also, it may help to put food on one side of the coop and water on the other. I noticed that duckies like to rinse and play with their food.

That is how I would go about it.

Right now, they have a 3 acre pond and it's going to take a few years and a couple hundred ducks before they muck that up! LOL
