AMERAUCANA - Not Americana, not Easter Egger (though these are lovely and colorful breeds that can lay bluish, mint, pink, tint, or even white eggs), but I love their APA approved cousin the "AMERAUCANA" which is bred to lay only blue eggs and comes in only 8 APA approved varieties at the moment - breeders are developing some beautiful new colors.

I assume this is a UK Araucana? (The breed called "Araucana" in the US is different -- a rumpless/tufted variety)

The UK Araucana is cousin to the US Ameraucana except the US variety does not have a crest/tassle but has an exaggerated muff and beard (my avatar juvenile).

GlynCarter -- your photo bird is Lavender I presume? Gorgeous!!!! Glad to see people working on the Lavenders.

This chicken breed in any color is so fabulous for so-o-o many reasons!!!
