Let's see repurposed coops/nesting boxes

I was just wondering what to do with my smaller, spare, covered cat box! Now I know! Thanks!

I am in the process of building a coop out of old pallets I got from TSC. The one here lets me have all the pallets I want for nothing.
Right now I am removing the bottom slats to use to fill the gaps between the top slats. Will use the 2 X 4 runners as support and to hang nesting boxes, shelves and roosting bars from.
Will take pictures as I am building

I would love to see pics as this progresses!

I made a temporary one out of an old sideboard; removed the drawers and put mesh over the resultant gaps, fitted some wooden toggles to secure the doors, and put a tarpaulin over to protect from the rain. Put some cushionfloor on the bottom to ease cleaning, and made a roost out of an old sofa arm frame nailed to two logs. The chicks love it! Here it is being inspected by the grown ups

I will take pics as I build. I think this will be a very good coop for them. I plan on putting a tin roof on instead of plywood. It will be cheaper and I am thinking of using Deer Netting for the fence of the run instead of hardware cloth. About $100.00 cheaper

I have tried the big yellow kitty litter boxes, they used them a bit last year.
This year they started laying on an old rocking chair I had on the back porch. I was worried about the eggs falling off of it so I placed this upside down kitty litter box on it, filled it with straw and they started laying in it.
When I moved the coop to the other side of my yard, away from the back porch, and closed it all in I tried making another cute nest box but they all freaked out so I just moved the chair along with the upside down kitty litter box and put it into their run. They all squish in it to lay.

Does getting discarded lumber at the recycle center count as repurposing?

I made this nest box with discards from there.

Inside and outside.

I have since painted the outside to match the coop.

My big coop has recycled materials.
The roof is second hand metal. The tall side and short side are recycled shipping crates.

I'd show my nice coop, really I would, but my chickens refuse to use it. As soon as they were out of the brooder, my youngest set of birds (one cockerel, three pullets, all bantams) convinced everyone (even the preexisting flock) to move into the mango trees. Now I'm an o-l-d woman... I am NOT climbing a tree (several times) to convince them otherwise. My coop has a nice tin roof, construction block walls, a nice, hardware cloth human sized door that can be padlocked secured... but they simply prefer the tree, even in the rain! Go figure!
I guess my picture of a repurposed coop would have to be one of my mango tree bearing heavy fruit, with some closeup shots of my chickens decorating the limbs.

I used some acid shipping boxes for nests in the first Coop.

Here are my old nesting boxes made from file crates I had at work. I used a strip of leftover vinyl flooring to keep the nest material in the crate.

Now, I have your average, run-of-the-mill external nesting box. I wanted more room inside the coop.
