One of my Delawares is having such a rough molt lol. She spends most of her time in the coop cuz the wind is cold on her bare skin.i ended up chasing her out inadvertently, trying to get pics. She stayed out about 5 min and ran back in shivering.

I've noticed that if I give vitamins (especially Rooster Booster B & K) during molts, that they seem to feather out again more quickly...Something to consider, anyhow. We had a couple that had really long molts this year, and I put the flock on vitamins for a week. The ones struggling with molts feathered up immediately in a few days. It was interesting.

K, I'll give that a shot. Her entire underneath is new feathers, not a single old feather on it from just above her legs all the way to her vent. Poor girl.

I figured there would be a few people posting pics of similar molts. :)

That is one hard molt! Poor hen. I had a couple of hard molters this year, but nothing that bad. My older sussex was the worst, but she looks positively flush with feathers in comparison to yours. She is missing most of her leg and bum feathers too, but she is modestly covering it up with her wing. It's funny how fast it happened. One day a fully feathered chicken, the next day, a huge feather pile on the roost and a semi-naked chicken.

Not to hijack this thread, but I noticed that all of my SS new feathers have a lot more of the white tips than before.
Is this normal for this breed?

Thanks
