Let's see your PHOENIX CHICKENS! :D

Okay, so I got pictures of my trio finally. The rooster and I had to have a talk about behavior modification first. He's a quick learner

Now his feathers were a bit ruffled up because of being pinned down in the towel while I trimmed his spurs down.

lol. I don't have any "angry phoenix roosters" But I did get a redshoulder yokohama out of the german imports from 2002 by TA and He is a bugger! He attached my husband and tried to spur him in the face the other day, needless to say they worked it out and no one was hurt. Turns out, he was protecting thier first egg of the season. Not too upset with him, but am a bit leary now

I think he was just used to intimidating people. He was still good today when I went to check on everyone in their cage today. And, I had a suprise. Only had them 2 days and there was an egg in the box!

Aubrey, NO, It came from Donald Barger. I had him in my house for just over 6 months and he grew a 6.5 ft tail and he had no tail at all when I got him. Was a really nice bird. I bred him to some Hotta lines. I have some Cy birds though.

There is actually Hyde bloodines in Barger's line as history will tell. He started out with a few roosters with no hens and used Hyde hens to proliferate his line...............................................................chrisf

Yes, and the gene pool for phoenix is very small here. I have some hybrids that I made out of some of the non molters. Alot of breeders came up with "new colors" this way. I enjoy them all but appreciated the really nice saddles on the barger lines:D

Sorry, I don't have any pictures but I have a couple questions about them.
I'm pretty new to the Phoenix breed. I was given 3 Golden Phoenix Bantam chicks the day they were hatched from a friend. It turns out 1 is a pullet, 2 are cockerals. They haven't started laying yet but should any time now. Is it true that their tails never stop growing? I know they get pretty long, but I wasn't sure if they ever stopped. When they do start, how much do you think, say a dozen hatching eggs would sell for? What about chicks? Thanks in advance
