Let's share our chicken decor!

Pics
How about painting cabinets? There's a wonderful example earlier in this thread. Your work is beautiful and looks just like a photo!
I did copy her from a photo, the background was abstracted (if that wasn't already obvious) XD
I will look into it! I loved those cabinets they were amazing! I think I have to research different media and things like sealants to make sure it can withstand getting wet/hot that sort of thing. Things in the kitchen tend to get dinged and scratched a lot I think? Also being able to wipe off gunk~

One thing that might be neat is painting tiles? I have some decorated tiles in my kitchen? I don't think they are chickens though I honestly cant remember XD

I found this picture in cross stitch at a Good will store

I can't imagine doing something like this and it ending up in a thrift store but very happy I was able to get it.

Good find! That's really cute, like the checked fabric too.

I wanted to share my pelicans (oh @sunflour , I wish I would have known you back when you got rid of yours!). Both of these are special to me for the little stories behind them.

This little guy is made up of tiny shells. I got him when I lived with my brother & sis-in-law on their sailboat for 3 months. We used to spend hours watching the pelicans dart in and out of the ocean diving for fish or simply resting on top of the piers.

This is my brown pelican limited edition print by John Ruthven who does beautiful wildlife artwork. When we had our store in the Keys, a couple came in one day and offered to trade a print we had for sale for one of theirs. The whole back of their truck was full of original works and prints from various artists (they were art dealers picking up stuff for their gallery while on vacation). As soon as I saw this pelican, I fell in love with it. One of the best trades I've ever made!
Those are really nice.

I had a small pelican made from shells and it was holding a tiny beer can..lol..my DH kept in his workshop for ages and finally gave it up.

I had some large poster sized prints I had made from photos I took near Cape San Blas. Before digital cameras…I snuck up on a large flock on a sandbar, took 29 photos. Was so, so egg cited, til got back to the car and DH told me the roll of film only had 20 exposures…there was no film in da camera ;( So put in a roll , snuck back out and got some great close ups. Really wish I had saved those.

It's so hard for me to estimate, this took longer than I think is normal because I'm still trying to get the hang of the material. the more comfortable with the material I get the faster I get, and then I push myself to do as good of work as I can. I think this took me a couple weeks, total hours I couldn't tell you ;P
That's what I thought. I used to know an artist and it took her at least 2 weeks for a painting…If you figure your time at even minimum wage it adds up…most folks now are too cheap to honor the artist endeavors. IMO if you want to make it worth the effort to sell anything hand done…simplify…try folk art chickens, would be quick and profitable?

I totally agree. It really angers me when I see personalized family things in thrift shops or flea markets ;(

That was a good find, I love it.

Splash back tiles…those would be outrageously wonderful!
