I really want to try hatching. My BIL said he had an incubator I could use, so I picked it up the other day. I'm not sure it will work, but I want to try it out. Thing is I don't want to spend a fortune on "good" eggs that might not hatch in it, so I want to I guess try a "cheap" option..does that make sense? I'm not sure if I can buy them locally? or if I need to order them online? How much does it cost to ship them?

Not sure where you live, but Trader Joe's eggs are supposed to be fertile. Lots of people have hatched them with varying rates of success.

Or find the "Where are you" section and post in there you are looking for eggs.

Or post under "Wanted" in the auction section.

Good luck! Post pics of the incubator.

It depends on how many you buy and how far they have to go, what shipping costs are. I sell hatching eggs as cheap as $6 a dozen for most common breeds like RIR, Barred Rock or Buff Orpingtons. I generally charge approximately $13. for shipping but it varies. Happy Hatching! Deb

Look for Charm1704 at the egg auction thread. She is in Central Texas too so the eggs won't travel far and her chicks are incredible

Thank you!

If you were close to me I'd give you some but TX is a bit to far from me. Good luck

I posted on Craigslist and picked up some ferrtile eggs from a very sweet lady.. I got 3 different breeds (7 eggs total) for $1 egg.. Beats having to pay shipping!!! I even had like a half dozen emails from local people with hatching eggs!!
