I hope you get relief at having her home with you. It does get easier. I know how much it hurts when you lose a loved one, and I know that it does lighten your heart having them home. Even if they cannot communicate with you now, it really does help with the grief to know that they are there.

Calls are supposed to be seasonal, so yes. Some lay longer. Some lay all year.
Calls and Muscovy are seasonal. Mallard-derived varieties will usually lay most of the year.
I guess I should have said the majority are not laying. We're getting a couple a day.

They don't taste different but they won't work for over easy or poached eggs. Any egg that needs structure. They break upon cracking and the whites are a little runny. But they are wonderful to bake with or for scrambled eggs
