Hello all - a couple weeks ago I asked about our new chicks and they were too young. I am trying again today! Sorry for bad angles or multiple pics, they were not cooperating... If you need better pics I can get my kids to hold them later.

We have 6 total. It was supposed to be 1 boy and 5 girls. A couple Cochins and Wyandottes but I have a feeling we got a big mix going. The smallest Cochin was supposedly the Rooster.

Thanks for any help! We're working on building the coop this week so hope to have them all in their permanent home by the end of the weekend.

(BTW - if you cant tell, we're first time chicken owners!)

I just realized I am missing one Cochin. Good news that the little guy shown is a guy. The other one has a much longer and straighter tail.

I thought that big white chick was a boy as it got bigger. So we have at least 2 boys and 3 girls right now.

So much for buying from the local chicken lady! Oh well.

EDIT - if we only keep these 6 birds (may add 2 more Easter Eggers soon, a friend has too many) can we have more than one Rooster? I thought it was only one per flock otherwise they get into it unless you have a large flock.

My other Cochin is in the photos, it is a pullet according to above.

The missing bird is in this photo - the black bird on the right.

First pic is a Barred Cochin cockerel.
Second pic is likely a Wyandotte mix cockerel.
Third pic is a Barred Cochin cockerel.
Fourth pic is a Barred Cochin pullet, might be a mix as it looks to have a small crest.
Fifth pic looks to be a Blue Andalusian pullet.
Sixth pic is a Gold Laced Wyandotte pullet.
X2. :)

You only want one rooster for every 10 - 12 hens.
And imo you only need a rooster if you plan on breeding.

So I was interested to see what sex I had guessed for your Wyandotte previously now she’s a pullet but not sure how to find your previous post. I thought I could follow you but doesn’t give me the option to see your previous posting from there. Would you mind looking up my post to you and advise me of my guess on the wyandotte chick please? Thanks in anticipation!

last year i bought 4 RIR 2 golden comets and 2 silkies. 3 RIRs were roosters and a silkie was a roo. They should be about 2-3 years now. when we still had all the roosters they didn't fight too much i believe because they grew up together but they would get a little bullied on but they didn't have much room. the coop was small. in my opinion chickens that grow up together learn the pecking order a less violent and subtle way so i dont think they should be that mean towards each other.
