Letting my new flock free range for the first time

Eight inches of rain with more on the way. Had about a 6 hour break today, so I let the girls out. They found lots of worms and other things. They came right back to the coop when beckoned before the rain started again. Smart girls I hope.

I hate to get confident, as I know anything can happen...but starting to get a little more settled thanks to many of the suggestions and encouragement I have found here.

Thank y'all so much for what you do. It is appreciated.

Here are my girls today. I did notice some posturing between them for the first time after almost 3 1/2 weeks. Seems there might be some actions to decide who might be the Alpha. This is the furthest they have wandered from the coop...but they seem to like to be close to wherever I am working and I was puttering around in the back of the garage.

haha, once you go free range, there's never going back. when we first started, we had 4 in a pretty large coop, but ever since we let them out they expected it every single morning. then they went to bed in the garage so we'd have to move them all (they weren't so friendly so ouch)
