Letting roosters run free?

So basically anyone whos everyone loaded up on meat and now the subject of meatbirds for sale gets crickets

Is there not room in your freezer?
Might need to eat more chicken at your house

I'd eat them myself. That's what I do with all the cocks I'm not going to use for breeding. I'm not giving away a bird/meat that I've spent feed and care on for months.

As too the original question, leaving the birds in a non predator safe set up, will take care of your problem, at least here it would. The coons would get them. And that would bring the coons around for another handout.

Maybe if you have dogs, that will keep them away, but I don't think so.

With plenty of space non gamefowl roosters will be fine, if they where gamefowl it wouldn't matter how big the acres where they would find each other and 1 would get killed.

But for non gamefowl chickens they are not as agile and will get snatched up easy by a predator, so if you except that they might disappear one day then its fine to let them roam. If you want to save them for selling or meat then pin them up.
