letting shipped eggs settle before placing them under a broody hen?

YAY! my eggs are here!!!! so, how long should I wait before placing them under my broody hen? I am so excited

I wait at least 24 hours before placing in a incubator/broody hen. Congrats on your new eggs and good luck!
 
Wow! I didn't realize you are suppose to wait that long! Thanks for letting me know. Is it known to be better success if you do wait compared to if you do not? What exactly is the reasoning for waiting? and while I wait do I have to keep them in any certain temps or anything?
 
Yes it is a lot better if you let the eggs settle. When the eggs are being shipped there air sacks detach and if they don't reattach correctly the chick wont develop correctly. While waiting just leave them at room temperature, and make sure the pointy end is down.
