I have read in several articles this is the best for gapeworms. I am not familiar with this wormer & need help with dosaging. Thanks!

What is your location? If you are in the US, Valbazen or SafeGuard Liquid Goat Wormer would be the best choice. Dosage of SafeGuard that treats gapeworms is 0.23 ml per pound given orally for 5 straight days. Levamisole was used in the past, and is still effective in treating worms in certain countries. It can be hard on the birds, and the 2 wormers above are the safest most effective. But levamisole can be put into the water. There are several different brands all with different dosages. Read post 73 in this thread for dosage for Prohibit:

Gapeworm is a rare type of worm in chickens. Chickens are gasping and unable to eat or drink because they cannot breathe. What symptoms are you seeing? Respiratory diseases are very common and can cause us to think there are gapeworms. @dawg53 is familiar with Prohit I believe, so he may see this and give his advice on the dosage he has used:

What makes you think your bird has gapeworms?
He is gaping, grunting, shaking head, & has swollen throat. Vet Rx & Safeguard haven't helped.Thankfully still able to eat & drink.

What dosage of SafeGuard did you use? The dosage in post 3 above will treat gapes. Your vet can test his poop for gapeworm and other worm eggs if you take in some fresh droppings. Have you looked inside his beak and throat for any yellow material or plaques? If he has nasal drainage or watery/bubbly eyes, I would treat him for a respiratory infection or disease. Tylosin, doxycycline, oxytetracycline, Denagard, and Baytril are antibiotics that can treat mycoplasma (MG, ) which is a common disease. Some respiratory diseases are caused by viruses, and antibiotics do not help.

Much more likely that he has a respiratory illness/disease.
Can you take a short video of him and upload it to YouTube?
Vet rx is worthless.👎

How much Safeguard did you give him and how many times did you give it to him?
