I’ve read many forums about this dewormer. I have not found any information on the particular product I found at my local store. I need help with dosage, how to mix and amount to give in an individual dose. I only have 2 chickens and a duck all who will never drink this out of a waterer.
The product is LevaMed (levamisole hydrochloride) soluble pig wormer. The bottle contains 18.15 grams of levamisole. For pig dosage it’s mixed with 500 mL of water then mixed 2 tsp per gallon etc. the bottle says net weight is 0.712 oz(20.17g) it measures to be 1 1/2 tbs of powder.
I’m not sure I can be advised as I do not own a scale that weighs such a small amount. I’ve read 1/3 tsp is approximately 1.1 gr to 20 ml water and 1.6 ml x 5lb bird, but I’m not sure it will work with this.
I appreciate any input. Will I have to buy another product? I can’t return as I opened to measure it.

Where are you from?

I'm showing to use 0.02 ml of powder orally per lb of chicken each day for 3 to 7 days. @casportpony knows the dose for sure.

How many chickens do you have and how much do each weigh?

Thank or your reply. I’m in east central Florida.
I’m down to 2 hens and a duck. They are 4&5 lbs. I was hoping to find a volume measurement (teaspoon) along with how much water to mix in into and how much to give each girl.
I realize it’s difficult with so many variations to consider. I’m just a little overwhelmed.

It would be alot simpler and probably quicker to buy some of the safeguard horse paste and use it, but Im sure we can figure up a way foy you to use the levamisole. I think it is about $10 at tractor supply.

What is the smallest measuring spoon you have?

Dosage for Levamisole is 1/8 teaspoon per gallon of water. Remove all sources of water 2 hours prior to chickens going to roost for the evening prior to worming them the next morning.
The following morning set out the treated water. It must be their sole source water to drink during the day. The chickens will be thirsty and will readily drink the treated water.
When your chickens go to roost in the evening, remove the treated water and save it if there's any leftover. You can re-use the treated water during this worming period or you can start over with a new batch if you wish. I usually start over with a new batch.

Repeat the above procedure on day 3 and day 5. Then your done. This is a very effective way of eliminating worms no matter the weight of your birds.

Thank you for your help.
I finally went to my local feed store (tractor supply is ok in a pinch but nothing will replace my local guy) and bought piperazine. He took 20 minutes to break down dosage for me. Can I use the levamisole in drinking water as a maintenance?

Piperazine aka Wazine has been off the market for quite awhile. You better check the expiration date on the bottle or package. Besides, it only treats large roundworms in poultry and no other types of worms that chickens can get. If it's Wazine 17 liquid wormer in the bottle, what was the dosage the TSC employee told you to give your birds? I'm curious because they rarely know anything about chickens, much less wormers.

As far as Levamisole goes, you'd be better off using it rather than Wazine. Simply follow the instructions in my previous post. Consider switching to Safeguard liquid goat wormer or Valbazen liquid cattle/sheep wormer. They are safer and effective wormers when given orally to each chicken. That way you know they got properly and effectively wormed.

The problem with putting wormers in water is that you dont know if all your birds drank the mixture, or if they drank enough of the mixture to be effective. Also sick birds dont hardly drink at all, and birds low in the pecking order get chased away from the waterer.

The piperazine came from my local feed store not TSC. The guy there seems to know his stuff.
You’re probably right about using levamisole. My main concern is the bottle I bought is pig dewormer. Is the mix the same?

Is it Pig Swig? It's the same as Wazine and isnt produced any more, better check the expiration date.
Levamed is sold at TSC as a soluble pig wormer. It's Levamisole.

Ok tomorrow is worming day. My bottle of levamisole is 18.15 grams of powder. Directions say to add 500 ml of water to the powder. Then for pigs, add 2 tsp (10ml) of that solution to 1gal of water and then 1 gallon per 100 lbs of pig. My chickens are fat but not quite that big.
My question is do I add 1/8 tsp of the powder to gal of water or 1/8 tsp of the mix to a gallon of water?
Sorry I’m asking these questions but I want to be sure I’m understanding the generous information.
